9 7 2KII - 22:03 CST SONGS OF THE MOMENT: "AVH", Ozzy; "Defying The Laws Of Tradition", Primus; "Yaki Yaki", Angelique Kidjo
Well, first of all, you may have noticed that I decided to spiff up the way things look around here (thanks to typealice designs on that one), and second of all, the aforementioned typealice has mentioned that its images will be down next Saturday. So if for some reason you decide to visit this little swamp on that day, don't be surprise if it "looks all fucked up an' shit".
Anyway...part of the reason that I haven't updated for so long is that I'm just plain fuckin' lazy. Another part is that I took a nice five-day trip to Estes Park, Colorado last week. With Girlfriend. And I missed two days of school. Needless to say, it fucking ROCKED MY SOCKS. Enjoyed the clear air and the fact that the hottest it got was 85 and the 0% humidity. Went for a hike and got 15 feet from a big-ass 10-point regal bull elk. Ate steak from Archie's (the ABSOLUTE BEST steak place in the entire world) and Iowa corn rolled in butter. Bought a bunch of cool souvenirs, including but not limited to a high-end pocketknife, a Pink Floyd shirt, and a bunch of Terry Pratchett books. Enjoyed Girlfriend's company to a very great extent.
However, there were two drawbacks. One - we were supposed to arrive at Denver International Airport at aboot 4:00 MST. We ended up getting there at 9:30. It went kinda like this - when we took off from Austin, the weather in Denver was pretty bad (think tennis-ball hail and tornados, folks) and so we ended up circling around the airport for awhile. Being that our pilots seemed to lack a significant amount of foresight, we ran low on fuel and had to redirect to Colorado Springs to get more. So we sat on the ground waiting for a fuel truck to free up. Then we waited while they refueled the plane. Then we waited for a runway to clear. Then we finally got to the runway, and the pilots inform us that they were trying to sneak out because they were based in Denver, and had gone over their FAA flying time limits. So we get back on the tarmac and get on another plane. There is much hassling with seating. Then we wait for them to load our bags. Finally, we take off and land in Denver about half an hour later. We then learn that there are no free gates. We sit around for 45 minutes waiting for a gate. Finally, we get a gate and get off the plane. By this time, it is 9:45 MST. We go get our bags and whatnot and then go to the rental car thingy. We learn that they gave our car away fifteen minutes before the reservation was up, to the motherfucker in front of us (no offense to him, whoever he is, but I was a little bit pissed off). They transfer us to another company and we get a decent car. We get on the bus to go to the rental car place. The sales girl realises she forgot a customer and goes to find her. We wait twenty minutes. By this time it is almost 11. The missing customer turns up and we go down to the car place and get the car. Then, we start driving to my aunt's house in Loveland, which is about a 45-minute drive away. At some point we stop at an all-night deli and get some food. Needless to say, they fuck up my order and I have to spend five minutes picking off the onions I specifically asked them not to put on my sammich. Girlfriend has an anxiety attack and almost throws up in the car. We get going and I just put on my headphones and start playing the Gundam III Singles CD I recently acquired from Samsquatch. Then, finally, we reach my aunt's house. It is now 12:30. We greet my aunt and uncle, Girlfriend gets in the shower, and I change clothes and pass out on my bed in the basement at about 1. Which means I was up from 6:30 to 2 AM CST. Yippityfuckinskidoo.
Aside from that, the only other bad part was that I acquired a nasssty cold and it just went away today. So I was traipsing around at 8,000 feet blowing my nose every other ten seconds.
Oh, and I took a short nap on a couch in the Stanley Hotel, where most of The Shining and part of Dumb And Dumber were filmed.
So that was pretty much my Coloradoan Odyssey.
Also, the following things have become clear to me:
*If Girlfriend wasn't officially my smack, she sure as hell is now.
*My favourite band is a four-way tie between Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Primus, and Rush.
So, yeah. All that 'n' a bag of po-ta-to chips.
*OBLIGATORY PLUG* - D'Addario strings are cool.
I've got a lot more to say but I think I'll just store it and spew it at you later. Hot cheese!
